Troop 271 Committee Meeting Minutes

March 14, 2005

  1. Eagle Project Report
    1. Mike S. reported on his plan to restore the trails at Greenmead, redefine the boundaries and improve the drainage. The committee unanimously approved his plan.
  2. Camping Report
    1. Miakonda was scheduled for March 18-20. 3 cabins are reserved for 16 scouts and 5 adults. Mr. R. will be the acting leader for the outing. The program may be orienteering or a tug of war.
    2. April campout was tabled due to the lack of time for preperation. Wright-Patterson was discussed, but 30 days notice is required for camping.
    3. A possible May campout was being discussed for Willow Metro Park with a program of orienteering.
    4. Summer camp is from July 9 to 16 at Camp Rotary. 25 scouts and 10 adults have signed up and paid deposits. We have reserved the Uncle Otto campsite.
  3. Activities
    1. Scout Day in the park is scheduled for May 7 in Rotary Park from 12 to 3 pm.
    2. The Eagle Court of Honor for Colin B. is scheduled for May 7 also. Details to follow.
  4. Advancement report
    1. 2 scouts earned merit badges and 2 had a rank advancement.
  5. Quartermaster report was tabled.
  6. Web site update
    1. The web site has a separate place for the canopy rental now.
    2. The committee also discussed listing merit badge counselors on the web site
  7. High Adventure
    1. Sea Base is on Schedule for the week of Dec. 26 to Jan 1 of 2006.
    2. The Committee also discussed a possible Isle Royale campout.
    3. Discussion also included a possible rock-climbing outing.
  8. Policy Rules and Discussions
    1. Files are being created for the physicals for the adults and the scouts.
  9. Scoutmasters Report.
    1. Awards dinners are coming up. Nominations were discussed.
    2. Also discussed was the Mackinac service camp.
  10. The next meeting is scheduled for April 11, 2005 at 7:30pm at Dagwoods Deli in Farmington.
