Troop 271 Committee Meeting

  1. Camping Report
    1. April campout is scheduled for April 23 to 25 at Island Lake. A high adventure hike is scheduled for the campout. There is fishing and hiking available for those that do not hike.
    2. May campout is May 21 to 23 at the Lower Huron Metro Park with hiking for the Philmont group and will have an orienteering merit badge program.
    3. A possible June campout is a shooting sports campout.
    4. Summer Camp is scheduled for July 11 to 18 at Camp Rotary. Any interested boys should see the Camping Chairman to sign up.
    5. Cedar Point is scheduled for Sept.

  2. Activities
    1. Rechartering is underway with the Commissioner.
    2. Junior Leader training is scheduled tentatively for May 15 at a location to be determined.
    3. Scout Day in the Park is from 12pm to 3pm at Rotary Park on 6 mile.

  3. Advancement Report
    1. Robbie M. advanced to the rank of first class.

  4. Quartermaster Report:
    1. Used uniform sale is picking up. Still accepting donations.
    2. The Quartermaster reported he found parts for the tents for the leader tents.

  5. Web Site
    1. The web site should be up in the next week or so. We are expecting to go live by May 1st.

  6. High adventure
    1. The High Adventure Chairman presented some proposed policies for a high adventure patrol for the scouts.
    2. The proposals were accepted as policies.
    3. The kickoff should be in May for the High adventure patrol.
    4. Philmont 04 is on track for June.
    5. Canoe trip is being looked into for 05.

  7. Scoutmaster Report
    1. Thank you to the Recording Secretary for the Auto Mechanics merit badge for the troop.
    2. Congratulations to Jim W. for the election of SPL.
    3. Thank you to Matt W. for a fine job as SPL in the last year.

  8. Roundtable
    1. The committee nominated the Scoutmaster for the distinguished Unit Leader Award. Congratulations Mr. K.
    2. The Quartermaster was nominated to the Order of the Arrow. Bill C. will also be asked.

  9. The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be May 10 at the Committee Chair house.
